This activity pack consists of a set of 10 activities to use with your students when teaching about Remembrance Day. There is a mixture of engaging and attractive activities which ensure high-quality learning experiences for all students: scrambled sentences, acrostic poem, cartoon storyboard, crossword, crack the code etc. Pupils are also encouraged to debate, to express their own opinions and to think more deeply about this topic by, for example, answering some reflective questions.
The resource can be used during class activities, for homework or for revision. Answer keys are provided for all activities! Just print as many copies of each activity as you need. You may want to give each student a copy or, you may consider giving the students the option to work in pairs.

This lesson is part of the inter-disciplinary project: Religion and Sport. Pupils learn to describe a situation where an athlete may experience a conflict between the requirements of their religious belief and the demands of their sport, to identify and explain any religious beliefs/practices associated with the potential conflict and to discuss factors that will influence choices for a person facing such a conflict.
The resource can be used with S1/S2/S3 classes (Scotland) or year 7/8/9 (England) and it is designed to last 1-2 periods.
Pupils are encouraged to debate, to express their own opinions and to think more deeply about this topic. The activities are designed to give all pupils opportunities to achieve all success criteria and experience enjoyment at the same time.

This lesson is designed to meet the standards of the new Higher RMPS exam (valid from August 2016).
It helps pupils to explain the meaning of Samsara, to describe the wheel of life, to interpret possible implications of Samsara for the lives of Buddhists, to identify one key belief and one key practice related to Samsara and to analyse the significance of it.
The resource requires 1-2 periods to be completed. It includes a PowerPoint to give structure to lessons and provide a visual aid when needed, a flip chart with activities for the pupils, the lesson plan and two worksheets. The principles and strategies of formative assessment are embedded in the lesson (for example, entrance ticket, opinion line and the self-evaluation activity).
There are many opportunities for class discussions to encourage young people to present their own opinions and respect the opinion/views of others.
This lesson meets the standards of the new Higher RMPS exam (valid from August 2016). It helps pupils to explain what the Sangha is, to identify the main groups in the Sangha, to describe the role of women in the Sangha and to analyse the importance of the Sangha in Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism.

The structure of the research project:
This project is an ideal activity to be used at the end of the unit 'Exploring the Holocaust’ and it is structured in three parts. It is designed to be used over a number of weeks and it is flexible in that you can choose how much time to spend on each section.
In Part 1, Beginning to investigate, students identify the five topics they can choose from and they are given guidelines on how to write the report and to gather basic information about their topic.
In Part 2, Investigating–class time, students choose one aspect of the Holocaust, research from a website and make notes about key points, write up their findings, reflect on what they have read and written, and present their projects.
In Part 3, Celebrating success, students peer- and self-assess the projects, reflect on their learning and celebrate success.

‘Sanctity of life’ is the starting point in a series of resources addressing the application of ethical theory to contemporary issues of importance. Teaching Medical Ethics has never been more exciting than nowadays when unprecedented advances are made in the area of biomedical technology and when, more and more, people face very difficult ethical questions as a result.
Learning intentions
The lesson was designed so that most pupils will be able:
✶ to explain the key words: ‘ethics’, ‘sacred’, ‘sanctity’ and ‘quality of life’;
✶ to identify the grounds of the sanctity of life from a Christian point of view;
✶ to evaluate the moral implications of the sanctity of life.
There is a mixture of engaging and attractive activities which ensure high-quality learning experiences for all students: entrance and exit tickets; brainstorming; working out definitions; think, pair, share; watching video clips and discussing them. Pupils are also encouraged to debate, to express their own opinions and to think more deeply about this topic. I have included a sample of pupils’ feedback which was very positive.
